BMA Philadelphia welcomes Kathy Button Bell, VP and CMO at Emerson and Chairwoman of the National BMA, to its second annual membership meeting on Wednesday, September 25 at Urban Saloon. Kathy will discuss the amount and rapid pace of the changes in our role as marketers -- and she will focus on how we have the tools and the talent to keep up with the challenge.
3 Key Takewaways:
- Marketers today face an astonishing amount of change. The role broadens daily and new skills are needed constantly.
- You are not alone if you feel overwhelmed by the change and fearful of the increased pressure to do more with less.
- To succeed, marketers must embrace a new, integrated and inspirational vision and working style, both internally and externally.
We’ll have some serious hors d'oeuvres, a delicious dinner, discounted cash bar and great company. The menu includes: sesame chicken skewers, beer battered shrimp, veggie spring rolls, Mediterranean salad, braised short ribs, crab cakes, steamed vegetables and the best tater tots (TOTS!) in the city!

Speaker Bio - Kathy Button Bell
Illinois native Bell acquired skills as a child from her father, who was one of her early marketing mentors. In her professional career, she built a reputation for innovative marketing at Wilson Sporting Goods and Converse, a brand that was catapulted from obscurity to hipster chic in the 1990s. She went independent for awhile before joining sleeping industrial giant Emerson Electric in 1999, which she has been known to call "the biggest industrial conglomerate that nobody had ever heard of." When Bell came on board, the company consisted of dozens of divisions, each with its own brand and little connection with the parent firm. By 2010--thanks in large part to her leadership--Emerson was a $21 billion diversified engineering and technology provider organized around eight customer areas, as well as one of the World's Most Admired Companies, according to Fortune magazine.
